Brilliant Blogger: Julie Laszczak
Book+Main Bites is more than a website. It's a community of people who have come together over a shared interest—romance novels. From readers to authors to bloggers and other industry professionals, Book+Main Bites is where the romance book world comes to connect. A home created exclusively for us.
From time to time, we'd like to introduce you to different members of our community, find out a little bit more about them and how they use the site, and shine a light on exactly what makes us who we are—our members. Today we bring you, a Brilliant Blogger, Julie Laszczak.
P.S. Julie is a converted lover of Book+Main. She'll admit that in the beginning, she didn't quite get it. We love that we were able to win her over!
1. Why do you love Book+Main Bites?
I love being able to discover new authors. I'm such a prolific reader, that I'm always looking for new authors or new genres. Reading a bite ahead of time gives me a feel for the authors writing style and the storyline.
2. How do you use Book+Main Bites as a blogger?
As a blogger, I've really been able to connect with authors on a different level. Being able to repost and blog about books that I discovered via a Bite has really opened up a whole new world. This platform gives you so much flexibility to interact with not only authors but other readers.
3. Are there any tips you can give to other bloggers on how to get started on Book+Main Bites?
Just dive in! Truly, follow all the authors you love and even some that are new to you. Repost, like and comment on things that you like and allow the natural conversations to happen. These authors are all incredible people, get to know them.
4. Any authors you wish were on Book+Main that aren’t?
I've gone back to my roots this month and have been reading historical romance books. I've recently become rather infatuated with Kerrigan Byrne's ability to write books that suck me in, so I'd love to see her on B+M. Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas and Stephanie Laurens are some other historical authors I love.
5. What’s your favorite feature on Book+Main?
The search feature! I know, that seems rather silly, but as someone who tends to read "by trope" - it's so helpful to be able to go in and simply search "accidental marriage" and have a ton of bites to read through to find my next book.
6. Go to your profile and tell us who the last author was that you shared a Bite for.
The fantastic Dylan Allen, and her serial The Summer We Fell. One of the newest trends on B+M that is just to die for, is the fact that many authors are writing exclusive serials. Exclusive only to B+M. Watching these mini-stories unfold is the best part of my day. I get so excited to see who is going to post what next. Will it be Kate Canterbary with her Magnolia Chronicles? Or maybe Beth Cranford and Kathryn Nolan with the super hot Hammer. It's really an awesome feature.
7. What features would you love to see on Book+Main in the future?
I'm really excited for the future of Book+Main with their upcoming blogger platform. It will give bloggers a chance to have a platform where things are hidden or your reach is stifled. Romance readers are the best, and having a place to connect with them unencumbered will be freeing on a lot of levels.
A bit about Julie...
I started reading romance books in high school when my gram, mom and aunts finally allowed me access to the "traveling bag of porn." I cracked open Whitney my Love by Judith McNaught, and haven't looked back. Reading is such a huge part of my life, and I've instilled that love down to my 7 year old twins. It's a pretty fantastic feeling to look around and see everyone with their nose stuck in a book. Just about a year ago, I joined forces with my partners in crime, Jess and Jaime, and we started building our blog simply out of love for books. Blogging has given me more than I ever could've imagined. We've not only built a blog around books, but a community of amazing women (Hey Girls!) in which I truly value their friendship and views. When not reading, I can be found teaching small minds, drinking a lot of earl grey tea and partaking in quite a few margaritas by the ocean.
Make sure you follow Julie and the other wonderful ladies at @HeyGirlHEA on Book+Main!
